BAADSHAHO – Who says gone are the days of Multi-starrer’s in Bollywood? They are back in Milan Luthria’s – “BAADSHAHO”. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana De Cruz, Esha Gupta and Vydut Jamwal in stellar roles.

The film is set during the “Emergency” Period, during 1975 under the Indra Ganhi rule in India. It is a time when the government wanted to abolish privy wealth of the certain rich, particularly of Maharajah’s, and just ordered them to surrender their treasures. It seems like a very corrupt thing to do in those days. But one such princess of Rajasthan, played by Ileana De Cruz does not take this lightly. So she gets her right hand man – bodyguard and love interest to help get her gold back. So then Bhavani Singh – (Ajay Devgn) – comes with his entourage and plots the scheme to get the gold back from the military and the government in a heist. It is an uphill battle indeed.

The film has great visuals, and both Ajay and Emran Hashmi as buddies seem comfortable in the skin of their characters by not overacting in them. But the film does have some similarities to the Hollywood film based in Iraq, called “Three Kings”.

In addition to that the film narrative along the way have some hiccups and becomes slow paced in the middle. There are also some great twists to the plot, but with that the film has some flaws as well that will annoy you as an audience with things that are unanswered, and unexplained. First the Princess appears to be not the real one. So where is the real one? And where does she disappear in the end of the film in the dessert??. The ending is abrupt with with no proper ending, that will bother you. On a whole the film gets a 2 and a half stars for its unfortunate setbacks towards the end. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
