By Arun Sajnani,

BAREILLY KI BARFI – I have often said that sometimes small budget Bollywood films have a big heart, and in this fun filled love triangle has plenty of it. Mind you this film called “BAREILLY KI BARFI” should not be missed by all. Young Director Ashwiney Tiwari has brought out fun characters to life from this small town place in Bareilly, India.

The film does gives you that middle of the road nostalgia feel of a Hirishikesh Mukherjee film, where middle class lifestyles prevail. It also kind of reminds you of a off beat version of “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”. It is a feel good film with substance.

Actor Ayushman Khuranna plays a broken hearted guy who loses the girl of his life and ends up putting all his tears into a book that he writes in memory of her ex – called, “Bareilly Ki Barfi”. He does not want tarnish her image so he publishes it under an alias name by the name of Pritam Vidrohi. He forces his goofy friend played by Raj Kumar Rao to pretend to be the author. 5 years go by and a girl picks up this book and identifies herself with this character. She feels that the author knows her deeply. She wants to meet him badly. Actress Kriti Sanon is very good in portraying this modern day girl with middle class values, and requests Chirag, played by Ayushman Khuranna to help her find him. Deep down he likes her, and he is the person who has actually written the book. From then on it is a comedy of errors where this love triangle progresses.

The main person to watch is Raj Kumar Rao who is fresh and hilarious. He literally steals the thunder and is the main highlight of the film. I wish I could tell you more of the film, but then I will ruin it for you, so please do go see it at a theater near you. The film gets a 3 and a half star recommendation for its simplicity and its sweetness. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
