CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI – Is Bollywood – India ready for another progressive and bold subject again?? Well I do hope so. It can be risky, and yes – “CHANDIGARH KARE AASHIQUI”is a movie that has been made on a commercial level for the audience to enjoy in a light way, to tackle on the subject of a transgender girl. It maybe risky subject, and some of the audience may outright reject it. But kuddos goes out to Director Abhishek Kapoor of “Rock On: & “Kai Po Che” fame.
Even today people really do not know what is the reason why such people are born this way. It is also a fun sweet love story that is set in Chandigarh, where Manu Munjal, played by Ayushman Khurana meets Maanvi Brar, played by Vaani Kapoor. He is a fitness gym trainer, while she comes to join the gym as a Zumba teacher. Sparks fly, and love blossoms. But when the truth comes out, Manu cannot comprehend the situation, and things go down hill. But until he realizes from others of what she has been through, he then begins to realize what real love is and regrets his actions towards her.
It is great that Ayushman Khurana takes up roles that bend the envelope. His character is of a typical Punjabi Jatt and is built. He gets into the character. But Vaani deserves all the praise for portraying her character with sincerity, grace and maturity.
