By Arun Sajnani,

DHADAK – It is indeed a bold attempt to make the Marathi film “Sairat” into Hindi with some changes in Karan Johar’s Production of “DHADAK”. Coming from “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania”, and “Badrinath Ki Dulhania”, Director Shashank Khaitan has bought this film to life with great simplicity, and realism, that at times gets very intense to watch, especially towards the end. He excels in bringing the rustic and middle-class settings of India on the big screen with great realism.

It is indeed today’s “Romeo & Juliet” theme, and new comers – Ishaan Khattar and The Late Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor share great chemistry together as lovers that are on the run from their family, who are against their relationship, since “Madhu”, played by Ishaan Khattar is of a poor family, while Parthavi, played by Jhanvi Kapoor comes from a rich politicians family. Actor Ashutosh Rana is menacing as her father, and he keeps you on the edge of your seat.

These 2 new fresh faces are naturals, and they are here to stay. As for Jhanvi Kapoor, despite playing her part very straight, has her own style, and her own expressions. Being the daughter of Sridevi, to perform and create her own way of acting is commendable, as she will also have more opportunities to grow in the future. Ishaan Khattar is brilliant. His innocence and naivety as the boy next door will indeed make all the teeny-bopper girls fall for him.

The first half is cute and shows you what its like to be in love for the first time in your youth. As towards the second half – the film gets heavy and intense, which makes it a one time watch. The film gets a 2 had a half star recommendation. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
