JHUND“, directed by Nagraj Manjule, is a film, where “Salaam Bombay” meets “Chakk De India”. From the production house of “Sairat”, the Marathi flavor comes alive in Hindi from Nagpur slums in India, where a soon to be retired Professor, Vijay Borade, played by Amitabh Bachchan, sees something special with a bunch of slum kids that can play soccer on a national level.

He sees the potential of these kids., He feels the road to escape from the misery of drugs, and having limited education, is this road to be free and have an identity for themselves through sports. Plus this would make India proud for them to succeed. Based on a true story, the film tries to make the feeling as real as possible with a host of new characters that have never faced the camera until now. The raw talent is the key element that makes “JHUND” believable.

Amitabh is great, and delivers his dialogs with weight and passion, as always. The captain of the team, new find Ankush Gedam, as Ankush, has that chance to become a bright star in the future. He is natural, and has that X factor to become something big I hope.
