Actress Neelu Vaghela, known for her role as Rajeshwari Devi in Main Dil Tum Dhadkan, opens up about her love for Makar Sankranti and the special memories the festival brings.
Makar Sankranti: A Festival Close to My Heart
“Makar Sankranti is all about love, joy, and new beginnings,” says Neelu. The festival holds a special place for her, especially in Rajasthan, where it’s celebrated as Sakraat. “It marks the harvest season and brings families together with delicious food and fun traditions,” she adds.
Traditional Sweets and Kite Flying
In Rajasthan, Neelu enjoyed festive treats like Pheeni, Til Patti, Gajak, Kheer, and Til Ladoo. “These sweets help keep us warm during the winter,” she explains. The highlight of the festival was always kite flying. “The sky fills with colorful kites, and as a child, it was such a joyful experience.”
Celebrating Makar Sankranti in Mumbai
Now living in Mumbai, Neelu still feels the same excitement for Makar Sankranti. “I love eating Tilgulache Ladoo here, which is both tasty and healthy,” she says. The joy of the festival feels just like her hometown, with the same festive spirit in the air.
A Nostalgic Moment on Set
While filming Main Dil Tum Dhadkan, Neelu was reminded of her childhood when she saw her co-star Kanha’s excitement while flying kites. “It brought back so many memories. Makar Sankranti spreads happiness, and I love being part of that joy,” she shares.
