Remember Shilpa Shirodkar? The popular actress from the 90s recently shared a pretty wild story from back in the day. Apparently, a rumour went around that she’d been shot dead! Turns out, it was all a publicity stunt for one of her movies. Can you believe it?
Shilpa was filming “Raghuveer” with Suniel Shetty in Kullu-Manali in 1995 when the film’s producer, Gulshan Kumar, decided to pull this wild stunt. Shilpa Shirodkar’s name spread quickly when he spread the word that she’d been shot and killed to get people talking about the movie. And talk they did! Her family and fans were understandably terrified.
“I got back to my hotel room and saw like, 20 missed calls from my parents! I had no clue what was happening,” Shilpa Shirodkar recalled. Imagine the shock of finding out everyone thought you were dead, and you had no idea why!
Even though it caused a lot of stress, Shilpa didn’t stay mad about it. “It was a bit much, but I wasn’t angry,” she explained. “The movie did well, and I figured it was just a way to get people to notice it.”
Now, Shilpa’s getting ready to make a comeback in a Telugu thriller called “Jatadhara” with Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha. Zee Studios is producing it, and Shilpa Shirodkar’s involvement sounds like it could be a good one!
This whole story really shows how far some filmmakers used to go to promote their movies, even if it meant causing a lot of upset for the actors involved, including Shilpa Shirodkar. Unbelievable, right?
