‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ hits theatres on August 1, 2025
Mumbai, July 22, 2025 – Actor Anant Joshi is all geared up to play the high-profile role of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the biopic Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi. This is the largest venture yet for Joshi. It is also a major step up in his acting career.
From Pritam Pandey to a Political Powerhouse
Joshi became noticed after his appearance as Pritam Pandey in 12th Fail, which was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Not only did the film become a success, but it was also a lesson for the actor.
“Working with Vidhu sir was like attending film school. Every day on set was a lesson,” Joshi said.
“That experience helped me prepare for a role as demanding as Yogi Adityanath.”
He said that 12th Fail taught him to take the responsibility of heading a film like Ajey.
A Star in the Making with a Diverse Portfolio
Anant Joshi has consistently established himself across formats and genres. Prior to Ajey, he featured in the satirical comedy Kathal. He also starred in the critically acclaimed 12th Fail and the legal drama web series Maamla Legal Hai. Anant was also part of the documentary Zero Se Restart, which documented the making of 12th Fail.
In the documentary, Joshi appreciated Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s methodology. He highlighted the rigorous workshops and script rewrites that made him learn as an actor.
Ajey: A Story of Transformation
Ajey will chronicle the life of Ajay Mohan Singh Bisht—better known as Yogi Adityanath. The film will follow his early life in Uttarakhand and his spiritual life as a Yogi. It will also showcase his emergence as an influential political figure in Uttar Pradesh.
