Gauri Shelgaonkar Gets Nostalgic About Rakhi: “It’s More Than Just Gifts Now!”

Mumbai: Raksha Bandhan is all about celebrating that special connection between siblings, right? That bond filled with trust, silly jokes, and promises that last a lifetime. Actress Gauri Shelgaonkar, who you’ll soon see as Ghevar in Sun Neo’s Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani, was telling us about her favorite Rakhi memories, and they’re so sweet! Indeed, Gauri Shelgaonkar has always cherished the festival’s spirit.

Remember the Gift Excitement?

Like most of us, Gauri Shelgaonkar used to get super excited about Raksha Bandhan as a kid… mostly because of the presents!

“I would literally tell my brother weeks before what I was expecting,” she laughs. “Back then, it was all about the rakhi and, let’s be honest, the gifts!”

Growing Up and Understanding the Real Meaning

But as she’s gotten older, her perspective on the festival has changed. Gauri Shelgaonkar finds deeper meaning in the celebrations now.

“My brother is genuinely my biggest protector and also my closest friend. Now, Raksha Bandhan is more about that unspoken promise we have to always be there for each other, no matter what.”

Inspired by a Classic Story

Gauri also loves the story from the Mahabharata about Draupadi and Krishna.

“Draupadi tied a piece of cloth to Krishna’s wrist, and he was there to protect her when she needed him most. That, to me, is what Raksha Bandhan is all about – love, trust, and knowing you always have someone in your corner.”

Catch Gauri in Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani!

The show is about a strong woman who’s not afraid to challenge old traditions and make her own way in the world. Sounds interesting, right?
