Hey everyone! Durga Puja is just around the corner, and you know what that means – it’s time for vibrant celebrations! The rhythmic beat of the dhaak drums, the irresistible smell of bhog (festive food), and the stunning pandals (temporary structures) all create such a joyful atmosphere.
I recently had the chance to chat with actress Megha Ray, who you might know as Divya from Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani. She shared some really lovely memories about Durga Puja that I just had to share with you.
A Special Navratri Fast During Lockdown
Megha told me about a particularly special Navratri experience:
“My mom started fasting after we moved. During the COVID lockdown, I decided to join her for all nine days, mainly to keep her company. It turned out to be such a meaningful experience, and it’s definitely one of my favorite memories.”
Even though her busy filming schedule means she won’t be able to fast this year, she’s still planning to celebrate in other small, meaningful ways.
Pandals and Family Time
Megha also reminisced about her childhood Durga Puja celebrations:
“We always made it a point to visit the Durga pandals and, of course, enjoy all the delicious food! Even now, I always try to go with my mom at least once during the festival.”
She said that seeing the idol of Maa Durga always fills her with joy and a sense of peace.
Inspired by Strength
What really resonates with Megha is the strength and positivity that Maa Durga embodies:
“Those qualities really speak to me. I think it’s why I’m often drawn to roles where I play strong women who overcome challenges. I try to carry that inner strength with me in my own life.”
