Netflix has announced a sequel to Raat Akeli Hai called The Bansal Murders.

Mumbai, November 3, 2025: Netflix has officially confirmed that its acclaimed crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders will soon return. Directed by Honey Trehan and written by Smita Singh, the highly anticipated sequel is produced by RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Returns as Inspector Jatil Yadav

Once again, Nawazuddin Siddiqui steps into the role of the tough and sharp-minded Inspector Jatil Yadav. This time, he is joined by a powerful ensemble cast. It includes Chitrangda Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, Sanjay Kapoor, and Radhika Apte.

Furthermore, the story is set a few years after the first film released in 2020. As the sequel unfolds, Yadav finds himself investigating a chilling new murder case. This case slowly exposes deep-rooted family secrets. With every clue he uncovers, the mystery becomes more dangerous. It forces him to question his own beliefs about truth and justice.

First Screening at IFFI Goa

This November, the film will make its world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The exclusive screening will mark the first public showing before its global Netflix release, further cementing the film’s growing anticipation.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reflects on His Return

Speaking about revisiting his role, Nawazuddin shared,

“Jatil Yadav is very important to me — flawed yet determined. In The Bansal Murders, he faces a case that challenges everything he stands for. Smita and Honey have created a world that feels raw and real, where every clue hides a secret. Returning to Jatil feels like unfinished business.”

His words hint at a deeper, more emotional journey for the character this time.

A Darker and More Intense Sequel

Building on the success of the original, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders promises more tension, layered storytelling, and powerful performances. Moreover, the sequel deepens the mystery while preserving the gritty tone. This made the first film one of India’s most memorable crime thrillers.

With its blend of suspense, emotion, and realism, the movie aims to push the boundaries of Indian noir storytelling once again.
