‘All American’ and ‘Georgie & Mandy’s’ PAs Unionize: Major Win for Hollywood Production Assistants

In separate National Labor Relations Board elections, production assistants on The CW’s “All American” and CBS’s “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” voted unanimously to join a union. This is a big win for the Production Assistants United movement.

Of the 15 PAs who were eligible to vote on All American, 10 did, and all of them voted to join the union connected to LiUNA Local 724. On Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, three out of five eligible PAs voted yes. Warner Bros. Television made both shows, which are part of a larger effort to get better pay, health benefits, and job security during times of slow growth in the industry.

Alex Aguilar, the business manager for LiUNA Local 724, said that these “unanimous victories” help the campaign by showing that there is a lot of energy for change, respect, and worker voices across all productions. Organizers had put up tents outside the Warner Bros. lots to get people to support them, which was similar to what they had done in the past.

This comes after the The Pitt PAs ratified their first union contract with Par TV Productions, which guarantees them health care, retirement benefits, and job opportunities. The upcoming elections will focus on Warner Bros. shows like Abbott Elementary and Netflix’s The Four Seasons. This shows that PA organizing is growing.
