Nicholas Hoult discussed early career worries and his Hollywood journey in an “In Conversation With” session at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The 36-year-old British actor shared fears after his 2002 breakout in About a Boy. He worried about child stars’ transition to adult roles. He reflected on nearly 30 years in the industry and sustaining success.
Hoult recalled his role in British teen series Skins, which launched Daniel Kaluuya and Dev Patel. He nearly reunited with Kaluuya at the festival. He called his character Tony Stonem a “piece of work” and cherished Bristol co-star friendships. The show’s success shocked him.
Hoult joked about being “covered in fur” as an X-Men star. He thanked comic fans for support despite low recognition. He deemed George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road his “strangest” experience, praising the four-hour audition, Namibia effects, and comic-book script.
Hoult eyed collaborations with Sean Baker, Quentin Tarantino, and Christopher Nolan but showed no rush to direct. He teased upcoming films like Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven with Colin Firth and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
