James Gunn has officially named German actor Lars Eidinger as Brainiac in the next Superman movie, Man of Tomorrow. Gunn praised Eidinger for rising to the top after a worldwide search for this role. Brainiac fights David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in the movie, which comes out in July 2027.
Lars Eidinger, who is known for his roles in European movies, joins the DC Universe as the brilliant android villain from the planet Colu. Brainiac, who first appeared in Action Comics #242 in 1958, collects cities that have shrunk, like Kandor, and wipes out civilizations. Gunn posted on Instagram to welcome Eidinger to the DCU.
