The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 13–3 to win the NFC West title and the top seed in the NFC playoffs. Seattle gets a valuable first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs thanks to the win.
Seattle’s defense played a dominant game on the road, only letting San Francisco score three points in a close divisional battle. Running back Zach Charbonnet scored the only touchdown of the game, and kicker Jason Myers kicked two important field goals to end the game.
With this win, the Seahawks have now won seven games in a row, bringing their regular-season record to an impressive 14-3. Seattle is the team to beat in the NFC as the playoffs begin, and getting the top seed proves it.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers by a narrow margin in a high-stakes game in the NFC South that had playoff implications. Jalen Coker’s late touchdown gave Carolina hope, but Tampa Bay held on, so both teams are 8-9 and will have to wait for other games to see who makes the playoffs.
Now Carolina and Tampa Bay have to wait for the Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints game to find out if they will make the playoffs. If the Falcons win, the Panthers will go to the playoffs. If the Saints win, the Buccaneers will win the NFC South and move on.
