In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Teyana Taylor said that she is still friends with Kanye West and that she is loyal to him despite his past problems, such as making antisemitic comments and running for president in 2020. She said, “I don’t have to agree with everything he says or does, but I’m not going to leave him and say, ‘Fuck that motherfucker.'”” Taylor thinks of West as family and compares their relationship to that of brothers who fight but stay close.
Taylor first became well-known through her work with West, such as singing the hook on “Dark Fantasy” from his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and doing her famous workout dance in the “Fade” music video from 2016. She also worked on his 2018 album K.T.S.E. for the GOOD Music label. These projects strengthened their personal and professional ties for more than ten years.
Even though West’s comments in 2022 and later in 2025 calling himself a Nazi caused problems with brands like Adidas and Balenciaga, Taylor is still behind the scenes supporting him. She said, “If he asks me something, he knows he’s going to get a truthful answer.” She then talked about her own life: “I do my shit behind the scenes… I’m in my business and I drink my water.” Her stance shows how important it is to be strong in relationships.
