Spotify is raising the prices of its Premium subscriptions across the US starting in February 2026. The individual plan will go from $10.99 to $12.99 as the company tries to make more money. This is the third time in three years that prices have gone up, and it’s because of music label demands, inflation, and new features like audiobooks and high-quality audio tiers.
Individual Premium plans go up to $12.99 a month, Family plans go up to $19.99, and Duo options go up to $16.99. New premium tiers, which include extras like audiobooks and advanced playlist tools, are meant to justify the costs, but they have upset users on social media.
Spotify wants to get 1 billion users, but it’s hard because the costs of content from labels and investments in podcasts and audiobooks are going up. The CEO says that small price increases are necessary to keep subscribers, and promotions like discounts might make the change easier. Streaming economics will change in 2026 because of the same pressures that Apple Music and other competitors face.
