John Mellencamp: Daughter Teddi ‘Suffering’ in Cancer Fight

John Mellencamp, a rock legend, talked about his daughter Teddi Mellencamp’s ongoing battle with cancer on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The 74-year-old musician said, “I do have a daughter who is very sick. It’s not fun at all. She has brain cancer, and she’s in a lot of pain right now.

This honest admission shows how bad Teddi’s stage 4 melanoma is. It has spread to her brain and lungs even though she has already had treatment. Teddi Mellencamp, who is famous for being on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma on her back in 2022. Since then, she has had 17 surgeries.

In April 2025, the cancer had spread to stage 4. This led to surgery to remove the brain tumor in February 2025, followed by radiation and immunotherapy. She was hopeful when she said on her podcast in October 2025 that scans showed “no detectable cancer,” but doctors still said she had a 50/50 chance of survival.

John’s comments in January 2026 are very different from her earlier positive ones, showing how unpredictable her battle is. Even though they didn’t get along in the past, Teddi has praised her father for being “very much present,” talking to her every day, and being involved during her ordeal. The 44-year-old mother of three is still strong and shares her story on her Two T’s in a Pod podcast while taking care of her family.
