At the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised everyone by walking the red carpet for the world premiere of their executive-produced documentary Cookie Queens. The royal couple electrified the Salt Lake City event with their surprise appearance, actively showcasing their unwavering dedication to empowering young girls through storytelling.
Alysa Nahmias directed the 91-minute documentary about four determined Girl Scouts—Ara, Olive, Nikki, and Shannon Elizabeth—who compete in the high-stakes $800 million Girl Scout Cookie season to become the top-selling “Cookie Queens.” Harry and Meghan worked with Archewell Productions and other famous executive producers like Michael Dweck, Gregory Kershaw, and Jennifer Sims. At the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center screening, they took pictures with Amy Redford (the daughter of Sundance founder Robert Redford), festival director Eugene Hernandez, and Nahmias.
Helping Girls Succeed in Business Sundance programmer Stephanie Owens called the movie a “sparkling” picture of the girls’ charm, business sense, and potential to become future leaders like CEOs or Supreme Court justices. The documentary looks at the fun, stress, and business lessons that come with selling cookies, which fits with Meghan’s work as a mother to empower young people. In the Family Matinee section, Cookie Queens shows how kids’ dreams can come true through a famous American tradition.
