SNL Trump Awards Parody: Teyana Taylor’s Epic Debut

The most recent episode of Saturday Night Live had a hilarious cold open that made fun of President Donald Trump’s new “Trumps” awards show. James Austin Johnson’s spot-on Trump impression was the best part. Teyana Taylor hosted for the first time after winning a Golden Globe and being nominated for an Oscar. She was joined by the band Geese.

In the “Trumps” sketch, Trump’s character won awards like Best Picture and Best Kiss and gave speeches that didn’t make sense, like “It is truly honor to here hostings.” Mike Myers played Elon Musk again and made fun of “legalized comedy” while accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Taylor was great in sketches like “Grandpa at the Wedding” and a musical about an airport delay with Kenan Thompson. Weekend Update made fun of Trump’s plans for Greenland and ICE, with guests like Hernandez making jokes.

During rehearsals, Taylor talked about how shocked she was to get an Oscar nomination, saying she was “still processing.” People laughed at the episode because it made fun of J.D. Vance, Kristi Noem, and a fake Carrie Underwood. Alexander Skarsgård will host next week with Cardi B.
