Mnuchin Joins Lionsgate Board as Key Investor

Lionsgate Studios Corp. has appointed former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin to its board of directors, effective immediately on January 26, 2026. This action comes after a standstill and voting agreement with Mnuchin’s Liberty77 Capital and MHR Fund Management, making him a major investor with interests that are in line with those of other shareholders.

Mnuchin has a lot of experience leading both public and private organizations. For example, he was Treasury Secretary under President Donald Trump and worked at Dune Capital Management, which financed films that became major box office hits. Dr. Mark Rachesky, the chair of Lionsgate’s board, said that Mnuchin’s steady judgment, global perspective, and industry knowledge are all important for Lionsgate to grow as a top content studio.

The appointment makes Lionsgate’s board stronger as the company tries to grow quickly in a competitive entertainment market. Mnuchin, who owns about 13% of the company, said he admired Lionsgate’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. He promised to combine a strong vision with disciplined execution to increase shareholder value. The news of the addition pushed Lionsgate’s stock up, which showed that the market was optimistic.
