Savannah Guthrie’s mother is missing, Nancy Guthrie is missing in Arizona, and the Today show host’s family is in crisis. The Pima County sheriff is looking for a vulnerable adult who is missing in Catalina Foothills.
Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, who co-anchors the “Today” show, was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona, between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Around noon on Sunday, a family member told the Pima County Sheriff’s Office that she was missing, which led to a large search and rescue operation. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, has brown hair and blue eyes, and is described as a vulnerable adult in bad health with mobility problems but not dementia.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said he was “very worried” about what was going on at the house. He sent homicide detectives and search teams there, which is not something that usually happens in missing persons cases. Drones, helicopters, search dogs, and volunteers are all part of the effort, but there are concerns about the cold weather. Authorities say there is no evidence of foul play and ask people to call the sheriff’s office with any information.
Savannah Guthrie hasn’t said anything in public, but her family has said that they are working with the police and thanked people for their prayers. Guthrie was known for having a close relationship with her mother. In a tribute in 2022, she praised Nancy’s unwavering faith. As the search goes on, there will be more updates.
