Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Abducted from Tucson Home: Police Hunt for Nancy Guthrie

Police in Arizona think that Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her home in the Tucson area while she was sleeping. Chris Nanos, the sheriff of Pima County, said that the case is now being looked at as a crime because she “didn’t go willingly” and homicide detectives are involved because of the strange things that happened at the scene. Police say that Savannah Guthrie’s mom was probably taken from her home in Arizona.

A family member dropped Nancy off at her home in Catalina Foothills near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026. That was the last time anyone saw her. She was reported missing on Sunday around noon after not going to church. This led to an immediate search and rescue operation. Authorities think the kidnapping happened in the middle of the night because she needs medication to stay alive and is not mentally ill.

Savannah, 54, missed the “Today” show on February 2. She sent out a statement from her family thanking supporters for their prayers and asking them to send tips to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Nanos said that he had talked to Savannah’s security team and that the investigation is not leaving out any possible leads. If you know where Nancy Guthrie is, please call the police.
