Sony Pictures has set a date for Nate Bargatze’s first movie, The Breadwinner, to come out in theaters on March 13, 2026. Eric Appel directed the family comedy, which stars the record-breaking comedian as Nate Wilcox, a lifelong breadwinner who has to deal with chaos when he becomes a stay-at-home dad for the first time.
In the movie, Bargatze’s character has to take care of three young daughters while his wife Katie (Mandy Moore) goes on a long business trip after making a deal on Shark Tank. Nate doesn’t have much experience with household chores, but he quickly learns that being a parent is the hardest job he’s ever had, full of problems.
Along with Dan Lagana, Bargatze co-wrote and produced the movie. Colin Jost, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy, Kumail Nanjiani, and Will Forte were all part of the great cast. It was released by TriStar Pictures and Nateland Productions, and it’s Bargatze’s first movie role after his great performances on Saturday Night Live.
This Sony release plays off of Bargatze’s clean humor and huge stand-up fan base, making The Breadwinner a top family comedy for 2026. Official trailers and first-look photos have already gotten people excited about the funny movie about a dad.
