“We are proud to honour Rajan Shahi, one of our IFTPC producer members, who has created the longest-running show on Indian television,” he said.

Strengthening the Power of the Small Screen

Furthermore, JD Majethia highlighted how Rajan Shahi’s work helped change the perception of television. At a time when TV was often considered secondary to films, Shahi’s successful shows brought credibility, respect, and strength to the medium.

“The success and popularity of Rajan Shahi’s shows made television a more powerful platform,” JD added, while wishing greater success to Shahi and the entire Director’s Kut Production team.

A Long Association and Industry-Wide Impact

In addition, JD reflected on his long professional association with Rajan Shahi, which began in 2008. He credited Shahi for introducing structure and systems to the rapidly expanding daily soap ecosystem during its early growth phase.

He also praised Shahi’s active role in various IFTPC committees and his contribution to promoting fair trade practices. On a personal note, JD admired Shahi’s values, especially the respect and care he shows towards his mother.

Rajan Shahi Expresses Gratitude

Meanwhile, accepting the honour, Rajan Shahi expressed heartfelt gratitude to IFTPC, JD Majethia, and Star Plus. He described the recognition as a defining moment in his journey.

“Being honoured by a prestigious producers’ body like IFTPC is truly special. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is the first Indian television show to reach this milestone. This achievement is not just mine or Director’s Kut Production’s—it belongs to the entire television industry,” Shahi said.
