Steve Treviño: Hollywood Rejects Family, God Values Comedian

Steve Treviño’s 2024 Netflix special “Steve Treviño: Simple Man,” which came out in March, was one of the top 5 comedy specials that year, beating 35 other specials in terms of views. Netflix didn’t offer a follow-up deal, even though this one did well, unlike other lower-ranked competitors. Treviño wonders if the snub was because of what he wrote about family life, marriage, parenting, and faith.

Treviño said on the “Like A Farmer” podcast that Hollywood doesn’t like people who promote family, God, and country. He remembered that Amazon told him to cut a part of a project where he thanked the troops because it was “too political.” The Texas native says that numbers should be more important than ideas: “Sell tickets.” The numbers are what they are.

Treviño doesn’t let that stop him; he makes money from sold-out tours, his “Good Life Tour,” and interacting with fans. He is working on a “Travel Ball” sitcom about youth baseball and an animated show. His next stand-up special is all about family, God, and America.
