2026 CDG Awards Winners: One Battle After Another Dominates

On February 12, 2026, the 28th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards honored the best work in costume design. Big winners included One Battle After Another, Frankenstein, and Wicked: For Good. Colleen Atwood won the Excellence in Contemporary Film award for her work on One Battle After Another. The award was given for the film’s stylish modern outfits. Kate Hawley won for Frankenstein in the period film category, and Paul Tazewell won for Wicked: For Good in the fantasy category.

  • Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film: Wicked: For Good – Paul Tazewell, CDG (ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash, How To Train Your Dragon, Thunderbolts, Tron: Ares).

These wins fit with the recent award buzz, since One Battle After Another also won at the Golden Globes and the Directors Guild Awards.

Michael Wilkinson’s “Andor” (“Harvest”) won in the Contemporary Series category, and Tom Broecker, Christina Natividad, and Ashley Dude’s “Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special” won in the Variety-Comedy category. Kameron Lennox won the Excellence in a Studio or Limited Series award for The Studio – ‘CinemaCon’. Felipe Sanchez’s “Sinners” and Michelle Martin’s “Eats A Century Cravings Super Bowl” were both commercial winners.

James Cameron won the Distinguished Collaborator Award, which shows how the guild feels about AI in costume design: “AI don’t sew.” Kate Hudson won the Spotlight Award. The event highlights the craft’s role in the best movies of 2026 during awards season.
