Rupert Grint, who is best known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, is making a big splash at the Berlin International Film Festival with the world premiere of his new movie, Nightborn. The psychological horror movie, directed by Finnish filmmaker Hanna Bergholm, who is known for her first hit Hatching, stars Grint as a father who is paranoid in a remote Finnish forest home with his wife, played by Seidi Haarla.
Nightborn is about a couple’s dream of starting a family that turns into a nightmare after they move to a remote childhood home. It mixes fears of motherhood with supernatural chills. The movie was partly filmed in Lithuania and is a co-production between Finland, Lithuania, France, and the UK. It will be shown at the Berlinale from February 12 to 22, 2026. Grint, who has stayed out of the spotlight since Potter, chose the role in part because Bergholm likes puppets and dark stories.
The 37-year-old actor talked about how the money he made from Harry Potter lets him “pick and choose” roles in recent interviews. He also said that promoting Nightborn on social media feels fitting because it has a newborn theme. He goes to the festival today, February 14, 2026, which marks his return to big-budget movies after a time when he wasn’t as well-known.
