Dana Eden, an award-winning Israeli producer and co-creator of the hit Apple TV+ spy show Tehran, was found dead in her Athens hotel room at the age of 52 while working on season 4. Greek officials started an investigation after her brother found her body when he couldn’t get in touch with her. Police say they don’t think anything bad happened because of the medication and her medical history at the scene.
Eden helped start Donna and Shula Productions, which won an International Emmy for best drama series in 2021 for Tehran. The show is about an Israeli spy who sneaks into Iran. It first aired on Israel’s Kan network and is now available to stream on Apple TV+ around the world. She stressed that the show makes enemies seem more human, which she hopes will help Israelis and Iranians understand each other better.
Filming for the fourth season of Tehran, which was renewed in December 2025, was going on in Greece, which is often used as a stand-in for Iran, when Eden died suddenly and work stopped. After working in the industry for more than 30 years, her production company called her a “gifted creator with an international reputation.” Colleagues have paid tribute to her for her work on several award-winning Israeli shows.
Greek police are looking at evidence like bruises, pills, CCTV, and forensic evidence, but early reports say there was no crime. Her team has firmly denied rumors that the show’s themes have anything to do with politics. The TV industry is sad about this unexpected loss during an important stage of a project.
