Netflix Drops ‘Accused’ Trailer: A Psychological Drama on Power and Public Opinion

Mumbai, February 21, 2025: Netflix has unveiled the gripping trailer of Accused, a tense psychological drama that explores power, perception, and the weight of public scrutiny. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Dharma Productions, the film is set to premiere on February 27.

Starring Konkona Sensharma and Pratibha Ranta, Accused examines what happens when certainty collapses and perception begins to shape reality.

A Life Suddenly Under Scrutiny

To begin with, the trailer introduces Dr. Geetika Sen, a respected surgeon and gynaecologist. She appears confident, composed, and admired. However, her world shifts overnight when allegations of sexual misconduct surface at her workplace.

As the accusations grow louder, public judgment intensifies. Consequently, the pressure seeps into her personal life. Her marriage to Dr. Meera begins to fracture. Gradually, trust erodes. Silence grows heavier.

A Story That Embraces Ambiguity

Unlike conventional courtroom dramas, Accused avoids sensationalism. Instead, it builds tension quietly and deliberately. The film does not rush toward easy answers. Rather, it allows discomfort to linger.

Moreover, it challenges viewers to confront their own biases. Truth begins to feel fragile. Perception gains power. And clarity remains just out of reach.

Speaking about the film, director Anubhuti Kashyap said, “With Accused, I wanted to explore what happens when we are denied clarity. The trailer reflects the emotional stillness and unease that runs through the story. I’m grateful to Netflix for backing a narrative that lets ambiguity breathe.”

Performances Rooted in Restraint

Meanwhile, Konkona Sensharma describes her character as a woman used to control. “Geetika manages her work, her credibility, and her space. What moved me was her internal collapse under scrutiny. I’m glad Netflix supports a story that trusts silence over spectacle,” she shared.

At the same time, Pratibha Ranta highlights the emotional complexity of Dr. Meera. “Meera exists in that messy space where you want to trust, yet your heart hesitates. I’m proud to be part of a story that portrays women in a real and layered way,” she said.

A Rare Perspective in Indian Cinema

Importantly, Accused tells its story from the viewpoint of the accused — a lens rarely explored in Indian cinema. As a result, the film navigates themes of power, vulnerability, bias, and emotional survival with striking sensitivity.

With restrained storytelling and layered performances, Accused promises to be a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
