Cross S2: Hodge & Tal Spark Alex-Kayla Romance

In season 2 of Prime Video’s gripping crime thriller Cross, detective Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) and FBI agent Kayla Craig (Alona Tal) have a forbidden romance that makes it hard to keep their professional lives separate while working on high-stakes cases. In an exclusive interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Hodge, Tal, and showrunner Ben Watkins talk about the hot chemistry, bad choices, and emotional issues that change their relationship.

Alona Tal’s Kayla Craig goes from being a close friend in season 1 to a very ambitious profiler who has to deal with dark secrets and threats to her career. She is no longer on the sidelines; she dives into her past, which includes shady experiments and a setup with deepfakes that could land her in jail. At the same time, she is chasing killers like the hard-to-find Mastermind. Tal loves the new version of James Patterson’s character, who was originally a male enemy named Kyle Craig. She sees him as a driven woman who puts her career ahead of her love life.

In season 2 episode 3 (“Feed”), the Cross-Kayla affair starts after a violent shootout to save trafficked children, turning long-time coworkers into lovers. Hodge says that Cross, who is sad about losing his season 1 love Elle, finds comfort in their shared past, even though his heart is still with someone else. Watkins calls it a “war-zone” relationship that came about because they both wanted to catch killers. He wonders if it’s real passion or just a reaction to a crisis.

Kayla hides her framing from Cross as alliances break down. In episode 5, “Climb,” Cross goes against her advice and meets killer Luz alone. The first five episodes of Cross season 2 are now available to stream on Prime Video. They mix forensic psychology, betrayal, and sexual tension.
