Mohammed Nagaman Lateef: From Managing Talent to Designing Costumes for Global Pageants

Indian designer Mohammed Nagaman Lateef is expanding his creative journey from talent management into the world of international pageantry. Known for leading Hoonur, the talent management division of Balaji Telefilms, Balaji Motion Pictures, and Balaji Digital, Lateef is now gaining global recognition for his innovative costume designs at prestigious pageants.

Over time, his work has started blending fashion with storytelling and cultural symbolism. As a result, his designs are helping showcase India’s heritage on the international stage.

A Major Collaboration with Mr. Globe Winner

Recently, Mohammed Nagaman Lateef collaborated with Billion Weddings by Nazeef Cavalli on a special pageant costume project. This partnership became even more significant after Nazeef Cavalli made history by becoming the first Indian in seven years to win the Mr. Globe title.

For this project, the costume design drew inspiration from the elegance and legacy of Sushmita Sen. In particular, it combined modern couture with elements that celebrate India’s strong pageant heritage.

Moreover, the outfit blended contemporary pageant fashion with subtle cultural symbolism. Because of this thoughtful approach, it highlighted India’s long-standing tradition of excellence in global beauty and fashion competitions.

Speaking about the vision behind the design, Lateef said, “Our goal was to create a costume that represents India’s timeless beauty and confidence while maintaining a contemporary global appeal.”

A Historic Moment at the Man of the World Pageant

In addition to this collaboration, Lateef has also achieved another important milestone in his pageantry career. Earlier, he contributed to the design of the national costume worn by Ved Bharambe, also known as Lavesh Mohan Bharambe, who represented India at the Man of the World Pageant (6th edition).

Notably, the costume won the Best National Costume award. This achievement marked India’s first gold recognition at the event in 72 years, making it a historic moment.

Consequently, the victory brought global attention to India’s craftsmanship and storytelling approach in pageant fashion.

“The Wonders of India”: Fashion with Cultural Storytelling

The award-winning costume was titled “The Wonders of India.” It was created through a collaboration between Filipino designer Patrick Isorena and Mohammed Nagaman Lateef.

The design was carefully developed to highlight India’s cultural richness, iconic landmarks, and traditional artistry.

Furthermore, Lateef emphasized that the idea was to go beyond visual appeal. The costume needed to communicate a deeper narrative about India’s identity.

“We wanted the costume to be more than just fashion. It had to tell the story of India—its history, diversity, and artistic brilliance,” Lateef explained.

408 Hours of Detailed Craftsmanship

Creating the costume required 408 hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Every detail reflected careful planning, artistic precision, and cultural symbolism.

Ultimately, the final design impressed both the judges and the audience. Its grandeur and storytelling elements made it stand out during the competition. As a result, it became one of the most talked-about costumes at the pageant.

Strengthening India’s Presence in Global Pageantry

With these achievements, Mohammed Nagaman Lateef continues to strengthen India’s influence in international pageantry. His journey—from managing talent to designing globally recognized costumes—also highlights how Indian creativity is gaining greater recognition worldwide.

Going forward, his work is expected to further bridge fashion, culture, and storytelling on the global stage.
