Warner Music Group, Netflix Strike Exclusive Artist Docs Deal

Warner Music Group (WMG) and Netflix strike an exclusive multi-year deal to produce documentary series and films that reveal the lives, music, and legacies of WMG’s legendary and contemporary artists. Netflix taps into WMG’s vast catalog, showcasing icons like David Bowie, Cher, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, and Joni Mitchell, alongside modern stars such as Charli XCX, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars.

WMG partners with Unigram—led by Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron—to produce these long-form projects. They collaborate directly with artists or their estates to craft each one. This agreement harnesses WMG’s intellectual property and Netflix’s global platform to attract new fans worldwide. Netflix, a frontrunner in music docs like Beyoncé’s Homecoming and Quincy, views this as fuel for growing music fandom.

WMG CEO Robert Kyncl declares, “Combining Warner Music Group’s IP with Netflix’s global reach creates an incredible opportunity to introduce new fans to our artists and songwriters worldwide.” Netflix VP of Documentary Films & Series Adam Del Deo adds, “We witness how music ignites incredible fandom on Netflix, so we eagerly partner with Warner Music Group and their top-tier artists.” Announced March 20, 2026, this move propels music storytelling forward on streaming.
