Spotify Lays Off 15 Podcast Staffers in Latest Cuts

Spotify Technology SA recently let go of 15 workers, which is about 3% of its podcasting staff at The Ringer and Spotify Studios. This step is meant to make things run more smoothly by cutting down on management levels and speeding up decision-making. On March 23, 2026, news broke that there would be cuts that would affect people like Andrew Gruttadaro, who is in charge of special projects at The Ringer, and Miles Surrey, who writes for the site.

As part of the changes, John Jastremski’s sports podcast “New York, New York” on The Ringer will no longer be available. At this time, no other shows are being canceled. Spotify hasn’t officially confirmed the details, but people who know about the situation have shared the information anonymously. Bloomberg Law says that Spotify laid off 15 people, which is about 3% of its podcasting staff.

These layoffs come after Spotify’s podcast division had to cut back before, like when it laid off 15 people in June 2025 (about 5% of its staff) and 200 people in 2023 during a big reorganization. The company is now focusing on video podcasts and important partnerships as part of its ongoing efforts to make the industry more profitable. Between late 2023 and early 2024, Spotify let go of about 1,500 people, which is 17% of its staff.
