Independence Day Gets a Bollywood Touch at IFFM
Every year, IFFM marks India’s Independence Day with a special flag-raising ceremony. It’s a tradition led by the festival’s Chief Guest, and it’s all about celebrating the connection and unity of the Indian community living abroad. In the past, huge stars like Rishi Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have had the honor.
Aamir Khan’s Heartfelt Tribute
This year, it was Aamir Khan – Mr. Perfectionist himself – who did the honors. And it wasn’t just a flag hoisting! He recited Rabindranath Tagore’s famous poem “Where the Mind is Without Fear,” dedicating it to all Indians. It was a really moving moment, celebrating the essence of freedom and the Indian spirit so far from home.

Mitu Bhowmik Lange, the Festival Director, was clearly thrilled. She said:
