Netflix Unveils Trailer for ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ — A Tender Tale of Love, Identity & Second Chances.

Starring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh, the romantic drama premieres July 11. Directed by Vivek Soni and backed by Dharmatic Entertainment.

A Quiet Man. A Spirited Woman. A Love That Redefines Life.

Netflix has released the trailer for Aap Jaisa Koi, a soulful romantic drama that delves into love, identity, and self-discovery. R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh play the lead roles in the film, which is a considered comeback to the genre by Madhavan.

Set against the backdrop of Jamshedpur and Kolkata, the film is about Shrirenu Tripathi — a 42-year-old guy mired in routine — who starts reevaluating life and love when he meets the feisty and assertive Madhu Bose.

Madhavan’s Return to Romance

Referring to it as his “most complicated role,” Madhavan adds that Shrirenu is a character unlike any he has done before.

“It’s quiet, awkward, and deeply human. The film is about people who’ve been overlooked in love. It reminds us that it’s never too late to start living.”

Fatima Shines as the Unapologetic Madhu

Fatima describes Madhu as strong yet soft.

“She doesn’t shrink herself to fit expectations. Playing her was therapeutic. I’m grateful to work with Madhavan and Vivek on a film so honest.”

By the Producers of Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and directed by Vivek Soni, the movie also stars Ayesha Raza, Manish Chaudhari, and Namit Das. Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra are producers.

Love. Equality. Liberation.

Unrequited love is not all that Aap Jaisa Koi is about. It’s a nuanced take on emotional vulnerability, patriarchy, and the concept of barabari wala pyaar — equal love that sets both hearts free.
