“That’s Not My Legacy to Own”: Agastya Nanda on Family Pressure, Ikkis, and Finding His Own Way

Mumbai: Agastya Nanda, one of the most talked-about young actors in Bollywood, is slowly making a name for himself in the business. Before the release of Ikkis, the actor talked about legacy, pressure, and the difficult journey of bringing a real-life war hero to the big screen in an IMDb Exclusive.

Changing the Meaning of Legacy Beyond a Well-Known Name

Agastya Nanda has often been in the public eye because he comes from one of the most famous families in Indian cinema. But the actor made it clear that he doesn’t let other people’s expectations define him.

Nanda said, “That’s not my legacy to own,” in response to the pressure he felt about his family history. He said that his main focus is on being his father’s son first. He said that making his father proud is the most important thing he will leave behind.

Nanda thinks that comparing his work to that of his famous family members is pointless, even though he admires it. He said that they had an effect on films, but he was clear that he could not and did not want to be them.

Ikkis: A Tribute in Uncertain Times

Nanda is currently waiting for the release of Ikkis, a biographical war drama directed by Sriram Raghavan. In the movie, he plays Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra winner and one of India’s most famous war heroes.

Nanda said the shoot was very intense and out of control. He said that the experience was full of action and surprises. “There wasn’t a single schedule that felt calm or expected,” he said. He went on to say that the chaos was like the story’s emotional and physical demands.

Pride in a New Group of Actors

Nanda was excited about the future of Indian cinema when he looked ahead to 2026. He talked fondly about actors from his own generation and how proud he is to see them give great performances.

He said, “There are already some great actors here, and more will come next year.” Nanda says that seeing others succeed makes everyone feel good about themselves instead of competing with them.

What comes next for Agastya Nanda?

Agastya Nanda seems to be focused on growth, craft, and being real, especially with Ikkis set to show him in a difficult and life-changing role. The actor is sure of one thing as he moves forward: his journey is his own.
