Alan Cumming to Host 2026 BAFTA Film Awards

David Tennant will be replaced by Scottish actor, writer, producer, and presenter Alan Cumming as the host of the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards. On Sunday, February 22, 2026, the ceremony will be shown live on BBC One and iPlayer from the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre in London.

Cumming, who is 60 years old and famous for hosting the US version of The Traitors, which won two Emmys and two Critics’ Choice Awards, brings sharp wit and a lot of energy to the event. He hosted the BAFTA Television Awards in 2025, and his charm won over audiences. Emma Baehr, the executive director of BAFTA, praised his ability to make people laugh, do magic, and surprise them.

Cumming was excited and said it was a chance to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and troublemaking. The event from the year before had 3 million BBC viewers and 64 million social video views, which shows how important BAFTA is. His role in Cabaret, which won him both an Olivier and a Tony, adds to his already impressive film, TV, and theater career.
