Anasua Chowdhury, best known for her roles in Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V, as well as her appearances in Savdhaan India, Fear Files, C.I.D., and the blockbuster film Laal Singh Chaddha, is currently starring in the much-anticipated OTT show Waack Girls. Playing the character of LP, a talented fashion designer, Anasua is thrilled to be part of this unique and inspiring series, which is available now on Amazon Prime.
In a recent interview, Anasua shared her deep gratitude for being part of this historic project, describing Waack Girls as the first fictional show based on real-life experiences with the dance style of Waacking. “I feel more than blessed and grateful to be a part of such a groundbreaking show,” Anasua said. “It’s not just about the dance; it’s about how these women, with their individual lives, come together through this powerful art form.”
For Anasua, Waack Girls holds personal significance. She has been practicing Waacking for over a decade, and the show reflects her own passion for the dance. “The girls in the show are from Kolkata, and so am I,” she explained. “Like Ishani, who is my real-life friend from Waack Girls, we used to do Waacking together back in Kolkata when we were kids. Now, to be part of the same show, representing this dance style, is truly special.”
Anasua’s excitement is amplified by the fact that she and Ishani never imagined they would end up as actors in the same show. “We were just two young girls in Kolkata, dancing to our hearts’ content. To now be a part of Waack Girls together is beyond anything we could have imagined,” she added.
The show, which focuses entirely on women, delves into their personal struggles, with Waacking offering them a form of liberation. “Each of these characters faces their own challenges, but through this dance, they break free and live in the moment,” Anasua noted.
She emphasized the empowering nature of Waacking, which allows the women to feel fierce, fabulous, and strong. “There are moments in the show where stereotypes are broken, especially when it comes to how women are expected to behave in society,” she said. “You’ll have to watch the show to see how these characters challenge those norms.”
Waack Girls is more than just a dance show – it’s a celebration of strength, self-expression, and breaking boundaries. Anasua’s passion for both the dance and the empowering message of the series makes her role in the show even more impactful. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind series now streaming on Amazon Prime!
