Apple WWDC 2025: iOS 26 & “Liquid Glass”

Apple‘s WWDC 2025 was a big one! They showed off a pretty radical software makeover, the biggest since iOS 7. It’s called “Liquid Glass,” and it’s hitting everything – iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and even visionOS 26.

The big idea is a unified, see-through look across all your devices. Think glass-like visuals instead of the flat designs we’re used to.

Here’s a quick look at some of the iOS 26 highlights:

  • Liquid Glass UI: Imagine translucent elements, backgrounds that move, and animated wallpapers. These features make everything feel connected, especially on your iOS 26 device.
  • Smarter Apple Intelligence: Your device gets smarter with on-device AI that can translate voice and text in real-time. It also creates cool Genmoji, recognizes objects visually, and even gives developers access to its smarts.
  • Better Phone & Messaging: They’re adding a “Hold Assist” feature to help you deal with call queues. Also, there is real-time translation in calls and FaceTime, plus improvements to Messages like polls, backgrounds, typing indicators, and Apple Cash integration.
  • Game & Music Upgrades: Get ready for a central spot for Apple Arcade and other games. Plus, there are lyric translations in music, pronunciation help, and an AutoMix feature that’s like having a DJ.
  • CarPlay Ultra: If your car supports it, you’ll get a customizable dashboard. It includes sleek new designs linked to iOS 26 updates.

And that’s not all – here’s what’s coming to other devices:

  • macOS Tahoe: Expect better multitasking, smarter Shortcuts, and the Liquid Glass look on your desktop.
  • watchOS 26: New wrist-flick gestures and an AI “Workout Buddy” that gives you fitness insights as you exercise.
  • tvOS & visionOS: Apple TV is getting a visual refresh. Vision Pro is also getting new spatial widgets and even support for PSVR2 controllers.

What did investors think?

While everyone seems to like the new look, Apple’s decision to wait until late 2026 for a complete Siri upgrade worried investors. As a result, Apple’s stock took a bit of a dip. Some analysts called the keynote “underwhelming” because they didn’t see any huge AI breakthroughs. However, others are still hopeful, pointing to features like real-time translation and visual AI. They see these as signs that Apple’s building a smart ecosystem with iOS 26 being a key part of it.

What’s next?

Developer betas are out now, and public betas are coming next month.

The full public release is expected this fall, along with the iPhone 17 series, which will showcase iOS 26 beautifully.

Overall, Apple’s WWDC 2025 is setting the stage for a new era of consistent design and smarter AI. A lot of people are waiting to see if deeper Siri improvements arrive in 2026.
