Choreographer and tarot card reader Rinhee Suberwal opens up about her inspiring dance journey, which began at the tender age of two. With a passion for dance deeply rooted in her family’s artistic background, Rinhee’s story is one of dedication, growth, and success.
Early Dance Beginnings
Rinhee Suberwal’s dance journey began at just two years old. “Art and culture are in my blood,” she says. Growing up in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, she performed with her grandmother’s musical troupe and traveled with her family. In 2003, Rinhee moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in dance and choreography.
Training and Growth in Mumbai
In Mumbai, Rinhee joined Shiamak Davar’s professional dance batch and also appeared in print advertisements. However, her true passion for teaching led her to open her own dance academy in Navi Mumbai. “In three months, I had 150 students,” she recalls. Her academy gained success, and many of her students won awards, marking the start of her professional journey.
A Breakthrough Opportunity
Rinhee’s career took a significant turn when her uncle, a friend of Prabhu Deva’s brother, introduced her to Nagendra Prasad. After sharing her dance videos, Rinhee was invited to Chennai to perform for the Prabhu Deva family. “They were impressed and offered me a partnership for their dance academy,” she shares.
This led to more opportunities, including becoming a member of the Indian Films and Television Choreography Association (IFTCA). Rinhee assisted choreographer Vishnu Deva on Baba Black Sheep, worked with stars like Manish Paul and Manjari Phadnis, and choreographed a Marathi album.
Mentorship from Saroj Khan
Rinhee has a deep admiration for the late Saroj Khan, who was a major influence in her career. “Saroj Khan ji always believed in my talent and gave me standing ovations,” Rinhee says, reflecting on the support she received from the legendary choreographer.
Looking to the Future
Rinhee remains focused on her future in the dance industry. “This is just the beginning,” she says. “We are growing by the grace of God, working on wedding sangeets, school events, and more.” With her dedication and talent, Rinhee continues to inspire aspiring dancers and choreographers.
