Disney Leadership Shakeup: Dana Walden Leads Entertainment Era

Disney has announced a big change in leadership. Dana Walden will take on the new role of President and Chief Creative Officer, in charge of Entertainment, TV, streaming, and now games, starting on March 18, 2026. This change is in line with Josh D’Amaro’s rise to CEO, taking over for Bob Iger. It will help Disney’s movies, TV shows, streaming, and games work better together for a digital-first audience.

Walden, who used to be Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, will now be in charge of Disney+, Hulu, marketing, and gaming. Sean Shoptaw will report directly to her after moving from Disney Experiences. Alan Bergman is still the Chairman of Disney Entertainment Studios, where he is in charge of making movies, marketing them, distributing them, and sharing streaming oversight with Walden. Debra O’Connell has been named Chair of Disney TV, and Joe Earley and Adam Smith have been named co-presidents of Disney+ and Hulu. This will help align creative and business goals.

The goal of the restructuring is to bring together Disney’s stories across different platforms, since people consume media in different ways. Walden, Disney’s first female president, will be the creative force behind content from Marvel and Pixar to Fortnite collaborations. Iger will stay on as a senior advisor and board member until 2026 to help with the transition. This puts Disney in a good place to make more money from streaming and have more international hits, thanks to Walden’s proven track record.
