Inspired by Bankim Chandra’s Iconic Novel
Adapted from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s book, the story takes place during the Sannyasi-Fakir Rebellion of 18th-century Bengal. The film is about Devi Chowdhurani, guided by revolutionary monk Bhavani Pathak, as they spearhead a rebellion against colonialism.
Prosenjit and Srabanti Lead the Charge
Acting veteran Prosenjit Chatterjee plays Bhavani Pathak, with Srabanti Chatterjee essaying the titular freedom fighter. Music maestro Pandit Bickram Ghosh composes the score for the movie.
“This is more than a role — it’s a tribute to Bengal’s revolutionary spirit,” said Prosenjit.
Producers Aim for a Cultural Awakening
“We’re not just releasing a film — we’re reigniting a legacy,” said producers Aparna Dasgupta, Aniruddha Dasgupta, and Soumyajit Majumdar.
“Durga Puja is the perfect backdrop to launch this powerful narrative.”
