The trailer for Marathi ZEE5’s new original series, Devkhel (), has been released. The show is based on the lesser-known folk myths of Konkan and combines crime, tradition, and superstition into a gripping psychological thriller. Devkhel will only be available on ZEE5 starting January 30, 2026.
Cine Masters Production Pvt Ltd made the series, and Chandrakant Lata Gaikwad directed it. Nikhil Palande and Gaurav Relekar wrote it. The Shimga (Holi) festival, which is spooky, sets the stage for the story. There, faith and fear determine the fate of an entire village. The Dark Secret of Devtali Village
Devkhel is set in Devtali, a coastal village in Ratnagiri district, and it follows a scary pattern. Every year, someone dies on Holi Pournima night. The villagers think that these deaths are punishments from Shankasur, a mythical folk hero who is seen as a punisher of wrongdoers.
The trailer shows a world where faith is stronger than reason, rituals keep questions quiet, and truth is hidden under centuries-old customs.## Faith vs. Reason
When Inspector Vishwas Saranjame gets to Devtali, the story takes a big turn. He doesn’t believe in superstitions, so he starts looking into what he thinks is a carefully hidden murder. As he goes deeper, the lines between myth and reality become less clear, putting his willpower and the village’s moral compass to the test.
Ankush Chaudhari plays Inspector Vishwas Saranjame in the series, which has a strong cast that also includes Prajaktta Mali, Yatin Karyekar, Arun Nalavade, Veena Jamkar, and Mangesh Desai in important roles.Director Chandrakant Lata Gaikwad on the Vision
Director Chandrakant Lata Gaikwad said that the idea for the series came from their interest in the Shankasur folk tradition, which sees justice as divine rather than institutional. The series looks at how trauma, faith, and fear can turn the human mind into a myth. It’s not just a crime story; it’s also a journey through emotions and the mind. “Marathi ZEE5 let us tell this story in a true and fearless way.”Ankush Chaudhari talks about playing Inspector Vishwas
Ankush Chaudhari said that the show was more than just a regular thriller.
“Devkhel is a fight between faith and reason.” Vishwas Saranjame is based on logic and law, but he has to live in a world where fear and superstition rule. His struggle to stay objective while being emotionally affected made me want to play this part. The Konkan setting and the story of Shankasur make the series very engaging.## Prajaktta Mali on the Depth of Emotion
Prajaktta Mali, who plays a key role, brought out the story’s cultural and emotional layers.
“Devkhel” is scary because it shows how belief systems can change fear, silence, and guilt. My character is in a delicate balance of rituals, celebrations, and fear. The story has a lot of cultural depth, emotional depth, and relevance. The trailer only gives a hint of what’s to come.## Information about Streaming
