Actor credits director’s honesty and enthusiasm as the reason behind his quick decision
Mumbai, June 12, 2025 — Actor Dhanush, who has been known for his selective script selections, has stated that he agreed to work on Kuberaa after only a 20-minute narration by director Sekhar Kammula. The news was revealed at the song launch of the film in Mumbai.
A 20-Minute Pitch That Convinced Him
“It took only 20 minutes,” replied Dhanush. “Sekhar sir’s energy and sincerity attracted me in a moment. I didn’t have to listen any further. Kuberaa truly seems promising,” he added.
He further added, “It wasn’t the story. It was the narrator. Sekhar sir infuses warmth and honesty into whatever he does.”
“A Rare Human Being”
Referring to his initial impression of the director, Dhanush described him as “genuine, kind, and pure-hearted.” That’s what made Kuberaa an intriguing project.
You encounter hundreds of people in the industry. But very few create a lasting impression. Sekhar sir is one of them,” he said.

Dhanush revealed that Kuberaa left with him memories he’ll always treasure, cementing a special place in his career.
“There are always some few moments in a film that linger with you. Working with Sekhar sir was one of those.”
A Powerful Team Behind Kuberaa
The movie is made by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt. Ltd.
Joining co-producers Vipul Agarwal and Manish Vasisth are Mugafi, who distributes and presents Kuberaa in North India.
A Star-Studded Pan-India Release
Directed by National Award winner Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa features Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna.
The music for the movie is given by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP).
It is coming out on Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam on June 20, 2025.
