A Daughter Inspired by Her Mother
For Diksha Dhami, being told she’s like her mother is the highest compliment.
“She’s my strength and guiding light,” says the actress, who plays Chaina in Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain on Shemaroo Umang.
Her mother, a folk singer and writer, filled their home with music and stories. “I grew up in a world of creativity. She always taught me to believe in myself,” Diksha adds.
The First Big Break
One of Diksha’s most cherished memories is landing her first TV role.
“She was the happiest person in the room,” Diksha recalls. “She even recorded my first audition tape. She believed in me before I did.”
A Support System That Never Fails
Even now, her mother watches every episode of Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain.
“She’s my biggest fan and my most honest critic,” says Diksha. “If someone hurts my character in the show, she actually gets emotional. She hugs me and says, ‘Main toh tujhe kabhi door nahi reh sakti.’”
Lessons That Last a Lifetime
Her mother often compares Diksha with her on-screen persona. “She tells me to learn from Chaina—how she balances emotions, duties, and relationships.”
Diksha says her mother’s values continue to guide her. “She’s taught me to stay kind and never hurt anyone. I hope I can be as calm and patient as she is.”
A Heartfelt Message
On Mother’s Day, Diksha’s words are full of gratitude.
“Thank you, Mom—for being my first teacher, my loudest cheerleader, and my safe place. Your love means everything to me. I love you, always.”
