Siddharth P. Malhotra is celebrating the global success of his latest directorial venture, “Maharaj.” This groundbreaking collaboration between Netflix and YRF Entertainment has made a significant impact, securing a spot on the global non-English top ten list for over two weeks. Impressively, “Maharaj” has climbed to the third position on this prestigious list.
The film, which premiered on June 21st, marks the debut of Junaid Khan, alongside stellar performances by Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and a special appearance by Sharvari.
Malhotra’s previous film, “Hichki,” starring the iconic Rani Mukerji, was also a massive success, grossing an astounding 235 crore worldwide. Reflecting on his recent achievements, Malhotra shared, “As a filmmaker, I strive to tell soul-stirring human stories. It feels incredible that both ‘Maharaj’ and ‘Hichki,’ films about human perseverance, have resonated globally.”
He continued, “I seek strong protagonists who leave an indelible mark on society. Characters like Karsandas (played by Junaid) and Naina Mathur (played by Rani) embody this, and I have immense respect for them. Society needs people who fight against all odds.”
Expressing gratitude, Malhotra added, “I’m deeply thankful to the global audience on Netflix for their overwhelming love for ‘Maharaj.’ This film honours Karsandas Mulji, a great social reformer of India, and it’s heartening to see the world recognize his story.”
Malhotra praised his team, saying, “Being on the global non-English top ten list for over two weeks is a rare feat. I share this success with my entire cast and crew. We made this film with great respect for Kansandas, the Vaishnav community, and the women of that time. I’m proud that our film has touched many hearts.”
Highlighting his fruitful collaboration with YRF, Malhotra remarked, “It’s incredible that both ‘Hichki’ and ‘Maharaj’ have been global hits. My creative partnership with YRF has been extremely fulfilling. I hope ‘Maharaj’ continues to entertain audiences worldwide. It’s a proud moment for India to shine on the global content map.”
