Actress Divya Khosla recently discussed the striking similarities she saw in the storylines of her escape thriller Savi and the upcoming Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt. Even though she saw the parallels, Divya insisted that every movie takes viewers on a unique trip and thanked her for being the first to investigate the genre.
The story of Savitri and Satyavan serves as the inspiration for the film Savi, which stars Divya Khosla, Harshvardhan Rane, and Anil Kapoor. The movie tells the tale of a straightforward housewife who plans a risky jail escape to liberate her husband from an English high-security facility.
Jigra, on the other hand, which stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, is about the relationship between a sister and brother and centers on Alia’s role as she tries to use a similar jailbreak plan to liberate her brother from prison.
“Yes, I’ve been receiving a lot of questions from the media and industry insiders regarding the plot similarities between Savi and Jigra,” Divya said in response to an inquiry about the similarities. I just want to emphasize that, with the audience’s love and support, Savi has already shown its value on its own.”
“We had a great run in theatres and topped OTT charts across several countries,” she went on. Even if there are jailbreak themes in both movies, I think every movie has a unique journey. It’s acceptable when two production companies happen to work on related themes at the same time. I’m appreciative that I was able to investigate this genre initially.”
“With Savi becoming a success and receiving so much love, I do feel that the name change has worked in my favor,” Divya said in response to questions about her name change.
Under the auspices of T-Series and Vishesh Films, Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar produced Abhinay Deo’s film Savi. On May 31, the movie was released in theatres.
