Festival Leadership Denounces Malicious Claims
The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) has officially denounced recent false allegations made against the organisation and its leadership. The festival described the claims as baseless and part of an apparent effort to damage its reputation.
Extortion Attempt Preceded Allegations
Ahead of the event initially set for 20th February 2025 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, certain individuals attempted extortion. Threats were made to disrupt the ceremony. When demands were not met, false accusations followed, targeting Managing Director Mr. Anil Mishra and CEO Mr. Abhishek Mishra.
Event Postponed Due to Safety Concerns
Due to these threats, the organisers postponed the event to ensure the safety of guests and staff. Legal steps were taken, and the case is now under judicial review. A formal clearance is underway at Bandra Police Station, confirming no wrongdoing by DPIFF or its leaders.
Official Statement from DPIFF CEO
“Since its inception, DPIFF has proudly celebrated India’s cinematic legacy. These challenges only strengthened our resolve. We are thankful to the judiciary for supporting the truth. To our supporters across the industry, we are deeply grateful,” said Mr. Abhishek Mishra, CEO.
Call to Reject Misinformation
DPIFF urged the public and industry stakeholders not to fall for rumours or misleading narratives. The festival remains dedicated to honouring artistic excellence and showcasing India’s creative talent to the world.
DPIFF to Return Soon
Despite recent hurdles, DPIFF will soon announce new dates for the 2025 celebration. The festival promises to return stronger, continuing its mission to uplift Indian cinema on a global stage.
