Florence Pugh has talked about how filming the horror movie “Midsommar” affected her mental health in a big way. She said it left her depressed for six months. The actress said that to really show how traumatized her character was, she pushed herself to the limit and said, “I’d abused myself” during the intense shoot. Florence Pugh said the experience was “horribly real” and said, “I just can’t do that again.”
Pugh had a hard time with the psychological effects of playing Dani, a woman dealing with deep grief and trauma at a creepy midsummer festival. After filming, she had trouble with sadness that she didn’t understand at first. But her next project, filming the warmer, more uplifting “Little Women,” helped her get over her depression, even though it stayed with her after the movie was done.
Pugh said that after the ordeal, she is better at taking care of her mental health and will not take on similar draining roles in the future. She said the experience “really f*cked me up.” She sees it as a turning point in her career, even though it was a dark time, and she is careful not to do it again.
